Cashless bus rides in the Arlberg region

From the planned start in mid December, you can easily and conveniently buy tickets on the bus in the Arlberg region using the familiar cash-free channels. Use your credit card, debit card, smart phone or smart watch as a bus ticket on lines 750 and 760.

Simply hold your mobile, smart watch, credit or debit card close to the payment terminal and enjoy your ride. After paying, you can use the bus lines 750 (Langen am Arlberg – Lech) and 760 (St. Anton am Arlberg – Lech) as often as you want during the next 60 minutes. And even if you travel more often on the same day, you never pay more than the daily limit.

Instead of a printed ticket, passengers on these buses receive a digital ticket. This means that any payment information will be encrypted and stored in the background system. In case of a ticket inspection, the control device in use checks whether the ticket is valid. Here you can find details for payment.

Need a weekly pass or a ticket extending beyond the Arlberg region?
No problem. These tickets are available at all train stations and ticket machines (even ÖBB ticket machines) as well as in the ÖBB online ticket shop.

Frequently asked questions

• Besides the daily limit, is there also a limit for longer stays, such as a weekly limit?

  The pilot project for cash-free payment on buses is the launch of a completely new payment system. In addition to the 60-minute ticket, the current project also involves a daily limit. At present, no other limits are planned.

• How many people can I pay for?

  The check-in limit you can pay for is 5 adults and 5 children.

• How far can I travel and which destinations can I reach with the digital ticket?

  A single check-in allows you to travel as far as you want on lines 750 and 760, including transfers.

• If I travel beyond the Arlberg region, e.g. to Feldkirch, how can I buy tickets for these journeys?

  Your driver can sell you tickets for journeys extending beyond the routes of lines 750 and 760.

• If I have already travelled more than the daily limit, do I have to check in again when boarding?

  A check-in procedure should take place for every journey when boarding. The system automatically identifies whether the daily limit has already been reached. But no further costs are charged. Important notice: In order for this to work, it is necessary to always use the same card or payment method.

• If I pay with my smart phone, for example, what do I need to show during a ticket inspection?

  You simply need to show the means of payment that you used when checking in at the terminal. For example, if you have paid with your smart phone, you will need this phone for ticket inspections, or your credit card if you used this to pay.

• Can I change my method of payment?

  Essentially, you can decide how to pay every time you buy a ticket. In order for the system to be able to take your daily limit into account however, you always have to use the same payment method on any given day. 

• Do I have to check in again?

  No. With this system it is not necessary to use the terminal again when getting off the bus.

• Can my journeys be tracked?

  We do not have access to any information about individuals, payment methods, your journeys, etc. We can only see that a journey has taken place but not who has travelled or where this person has travelled to.

• Does the FAIRTIQ app also work as a payment method on these lines?

  You can continue using the FAIRTIQ app as in the past. Before boarding, simply swipe in order to start a journey and swipe again to stop it when getting off the bus. 

• I have a debit card. Is this also accepted for payments?

  Simple debit cards cannot be used. However, if your debit card has a Visa, Mastercard or Maestro symbol on it, this card can be used for payments.

• I see an authorization entry on my credit card billing. What is this all about?

  Payment processors use an authorization (of up to 10 euros depending on the card type and country) to ensure that the specified means of payment has sufficient funds. In this case, the authorization amount is “reserved” on the account and is only visible in the immediate interim statement on the same day. At the end of the day, only the actual ticket or the daily limit is charged.
