Bicycles can only be taken on buses in combination with special offers (with the exception of folding bicycles). Passengers can take bicycles on selected bus lines during the summer easily and conveniently, enabling them to start their bike ride as soon as they disembark.
The following brochure (in German) explains how it works:
Rules for bicycles on the bus
- Bicycles may only be taken on specially designated lines and routes indicated online or in the timetable.
- Buses can only take bicycles if they are mounted on the rear bicycle carrier. Bicycles cannot be transported in the passenger area. Exception: Folding bicycles are deemed to be luggage and may be transported in the passenger area if folded.
- Bicycles are to be mounted by the cyclists themselves and at their own risk. The transport company is only liable for damage demonstrably caused by the company.
- Special-purpose bicycles such as tandem bicycles, recumbent bicycles, tricycles, etc. that are longer than two metres or do not fit in the rack cannot be carried, nor can bicycle trailers.
- For safety and weight reasons, it is not possible to transport bicycles equipped with an electric or any other kind of motor. Exception: E-bikes (without extra-wide tyres) can also be transported in the Bregenzerwald region.
- There is no guarantee, however, that these bikes can be transported. If it is not possible to transport the bicycle for lack of space, it will be transported by the next bus , where possible.
