Fast, easy and secure: FAIRTIQ enables you to buy your ticket cashless and contactless. A ticket can be purchased for 2, 3 or 4 companions with the additional companion function. Groups of three people or more automatically get a discount in the app. New: take your dog and/or bike with you.
The FAIRTIQ principle
It is very simple: Just swipe your smartphone before boarding and after alighting and you will get a valid ticket for the route you have travelled. The Smart Stop function recognises when you have forgotten to end the journey.
This is how it works:
- Download the FAIRTIQ app on to your smartphone from the Apple App Store or Google Play.
- Register once and store a payment method.
- Now you can get going: Simply slide the <<START>> button to the right BEFORE starting the journey to check in. Slide the <<STOP>> button to the left AFTER the journey to check out. In the meantime, sit back, relax and enjoy the ride.
New: Travelling with dogs and bikes
You can now also buy a ticket for your dog and bike in the FAIRTIQ app. Up to five dogs and five bikes can be registered in the menu under Companions (Mitreisende). It is important that you store a name for each dog and each bike that you want to bring along with you. A swipe to the right finalises the registration and the journey can begin.
Please note: Bicycles can only be taken on designated local trains within VTA’s area of service. Unfortunately, bicycles cannot be taken on buses, except for selected routes and specially designated bicycle buses (e.g. the R2 Tschengla bicycle bus and the 8R1 Bregenzerwald bicycle bus).
New bonus levels with discounts of up to 30 %
A new feature was added to the app in 2024 which enables up to four additional people to travel with you, and to buy tickets directly for everyone travelling with you. The introduction of the new bonus levels at the beginning of the year made travel by bus and by train even cheaper. The bonus increases with every journey made using the FAIRTIQ app. There is a five percent discount on journeys from the fourth active day of the month, ten percent from the eighth day and 30 percent from the 12th day.
Feature to bring along up to 4 companions
It has always been good to travel together. And things have just gotten better with the FAIRTIQ companion feature. It is now possible to use the FAIRTIQ app to buy tickets for two, three or four more people – with just a single swipe. Simply enter your travelling companion(s) details in the app and select them before starting the journey. And off you go together.
Groups of three or more people get an automatic discount of around 30 percent, which corresponds to the VTA group fare.
The advantages at a glance
- You do not need any cash or knowledge of fares anymore and save yourself having to queue at ticket machines or counters.
- Valid throughout Vorarlberg and cross-border for the combined fare with Liechtenstein (VVV-LIE-mobil)
- This makes it impossible to accidentally pay too much, as anyone who has reached the limit of a day ticket travels for free for the rest of the day. Ideal for occasional users
- Store your annual ticket VMOBIL Klimaticket in the FAIRTIQ app and save yourself the hassle of carrying a plastic card with you. Please remember that you still have to start and stop a journey so that you have a valid ticket.
- The Smart Stop function recognises when you have forgotten to end the journey.
- The companion feature enables tickets to be purchased for up to four other people.
- New: You can now also buy tickets for up to five dogs and five bicycles in the FAIRTIQ app. It is important that you assign names to both the dog(s) and the bike(s).
